Rex was bred in France and was not so successful in conformation. Mr. Vogel wrote: A middle-sized black male with a good build, head parallel enough, powerful underjaw with long head. The neck suits the body, good topline, short back which is not strong enough, correct tailset, all parts of the chest very good, strong bone, angulated very well in the front and rear.
